"The Ides of March" (R): George Clooney's political thriller takes us on a ride through a civic campaign. The all-star cast includes Ryan Gosling, as an oil-smooth press spokesman for a presidential runner (Clooney); Paul Giamatti, as a rival campaign manager; Philip Seymour Hoffman, as yet another political operative; Marisa Tomei, as a newspaper lady of the press; and Evan Rachel Wood, as a temptress who knows she's trouble. "All have faces the camera loves, whether for beauty or abnormal or openness; all disappear into their roles, letting us forget that we've seen them many times before," says Seattle Times moving picture critic Moira Macdonald.
